This course is suitable for anyone willing to explore how to consciously use movement as a tool of communication to improve and deepen our acting skills, and to understand body language. The power of storytelling not only relies on words, but also in how we express and convey words, gestures, and even emotions with our bodies. Communication starts within our body, and because as actors our body is our tool, it is important to develop the skill to listen to it, to dare to discover what else we can do with it, and how much our acting can change when we become aware of our body.

Anyone interested in exploring movement for acting is welcome! No previous experience is needed in any of these two fields (acting or movement). Let us embark on a journey towards understanding that movement is the bridge between the script and the stage. Our body, and voice too, translates what lies beyond words. During this course we will explore different movement exercises, working on different levels of tensions by Jacques Lecoq and explore gesture work. Lecoq was a well known French mime artist, and a respected acting and movement teacher. I will conclude the information of this course with the following statement from Lecoq, "The body knows things about which the mind is ignorant."

Welcome!
